You're drunk 
So earlier tonight I'm browsing DA and there's all these ads and I'm like "since when are there ads on DA?" and then I realize...my Core ran out.
Back in my day, we didn't have no fancy Core. We had Premium Memberships and we didn't mind; we liked it!
So I suffered through about 5 minutes of DA with ads before I was like
NOPE and renewed.
Immediately, my phone starts buzzing with confirmation emails.

Ok, fine. Goodbye money, hello no ads, back to business as usual.

Refresh DA, get a giant full-page ad asking me to renew my Core
Not really worried, just annoyed. Sign out, sign back in...everything seems fine now.

AHH, GOD DAMN IT, HASBRO! WHY DO YOU ALWAYS DO THIS!? WTF ARE THOSE OUTFITS!??
GAHHHHH!!! Every stinking time, they have to do something gaudy and ridiculous with the transformation scene! God damn it. You wanna know how I feel about those Goddamn outfits?
Friendship magic is the opposite of a neutron bomb: it goes off and everything bad is destroyed and everyone lives happilyever after until the sequel.
And of course:
I dig this romance, I'm not gonna lie. Ship it like FedEx.

In case you missed it, Equestria Girls: The Legend of Everfree aired on TV in Brazil and of course found its way to YouTube. Having zero impulse control, I had to check it out 
Have a weird little review-type-thing that's full of spoilers.
Ok, so Midnight Sparkle is pretty fucking badass. I think she's my favorite EqG antagonist.
EqG IV starts off with a catchy intro. These movies always have great hooks and Legend of Everfree is no exception. So far, so good.
One of things I really like about this movie is seeing Sunset Shimmer take a leading role. The dynamic between her and Twilight is pretty great. Seeing Twilight as a meek new girl is fresh and reminiscent of the early days of Friendship is Magic when she was still figuring out her place in the group. This incarnation of Twilight isn't as precocious as her pony counterpart, which fits nicely with the whole alternate-reality thing; the same soul but shaped by a different journey.
The rest of the movie is relatively standard EqG fare with one glaring exception - this guy:

We have an overt, honest-to-goodness, actual love interest! That's a new thing for EqG. I mean, sure, we had the Flash Sentry thing before but this is no-holds-barred shipping. Hasbro ships it like:
But yeah, I'm all for it. Seeing a romance play out is something new in the EqG universe and spices things up, so it's fun. Nice to see Sunset and Flash patching things up, too. Maybe something will rekindle there. Rawr.
Anyway. I groaned at the next part. Not the greedy-business-man-wants-to-bulldoze-the-summer-camp story again. Yes, Filthy Rich is a legit bad-guy in this universe, it seems.
I mean, this is straight out of the Earnest Goes to Camp playbook when Mr. Krader of Krader Industries wanted to bulldoze Camp Kikakee to make way for his mining operation.
This trope got me like:
But yeah, in typical EqG fashion, weird magic shit starts to happen.
We get another song or two but tbh, I don't much care for the whole musical, literal-style songs. The music and score are great but I don't need soliloquies that spell everything out for me. I'm sure younger types will get something out of them and I'm equally sure that some people are into the whole Broadway thing, so whatever. Besides, dear God, did I mention how fucking cute Sci-Twi is?
More stuff happens and we find ourselves at the finale, the part where the first EqG movie went off the rails. At the time, the whole possessed, rampaging she-demon thing seemed pretty over the top. It might have flown in the magical world of Equestria where a gnarly villain tries to take over at least once every season, but in the human-esque world of EgG, at the time, it was too much. Now it's par for the course.
We arrive at the climax, where Twilight's personal showdown with Midnight Sparkle and Gloriosa's magical rampage entwine into a grand spectacle of chaos that would please the likes of Discord.
At last, the final showdown with Midnight Sparkle! So metal!

Still, the climax was pretty great. This is where EqG shines, when the underdogs come together to defeat the baddie. Rainbow is right: "You can kick the darkness' butt!" We all can wield the light of goodness if we choose, but we aren't meant to face the darkness alone. Once again, the magic of friendship prevails and all the bad stuff explodes, killing no one.

Magic rift opened, possibly leading to Stranger Things crossover? Maybe Equestria is the upside-down. Idk. Probably not 
But it'd be pretty cool to see the girls fight a demogorgon.
Overall, Legend of Evrefree is a nice addition to the EqG universe. Some of the characters are falling into one-dimensional type-casts: of course Rarity had to put on a fashion show, Pinkie was comic relief, Rainbow was snarky and Applejack did...Apple things, but it was fun to see the gang in a new setting and Sunset really came into her own, making this alternate-reality posse of girls feel like a veritable "mane seven". I didn't care for all the songs and those outfits look like they were designed by little girls as opposed to for them, but eh. Gotta appease the target demographic, I guess. Thanks, Hasbro. I found this movie enjoyable and I look forward to the next installment. Hope you enjoyed my pictorial review. Till next time
